Whose page was torn out?
A page is missing from the Keeping Book just behind Della's question. Whose answer was on it, and why would a keeper tear one out?
Twins inherit a farmhouse where every room is a year of their parents' marriage, and to keep it must learn why their mother stayed.
When their mother Della dies, estranged twins Whitney and Hollis Haddad come home to the North Dakota farmhouse at harvest and hear the terms of her will: to keep the house, they must write in its ledger the year she decided to leave, and why she stayed. With the hall light off, nine oak doors glow with nine different skies, each opening onto one kept day of their parents' marriage. Every door they walk through costs them a year of their own memories of her, and every land the neighbour's combine cuts takes another year from the house for good.
The film is complete in 50 minutes. If it funds, a five-part series opens as a stretch goal, with the film as episode one.

Della made her oldest friend promise not to help her children. What does a man who farmed next door for fifty years know, and why would she want him silent?

A scene that is not in the trailer, for solvers only.
In the dark hall at a child's height, count the closed doors that each leak a different sky.

Pause just after the title. The ledger page opens with the oak's last ring. What year is it?
